In order to further relations between India and Botswana, 1st India-Botswana youth dialogue was held at The Grand, New Delhi. The High Commission of the Republic of Botswana, in association with the Confederation of Young Leaders, organised the historic dialogue.
The Inaugural address was delivered by Hon’ble Union Minister, Government of India Shri.Suresh Prabhu through video conferencing. The Key-note address was delivered by the Acting High Commissioner of the Republic of Botswana H.E Mr. Herold C. Luke; Prof. Dr. P.B Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Gurugram; Dr. Veerendra Mishra, IPS, Director, NSS & NYKS, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India; Dr. Jitendramani Tripathi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Delhi Police; Shri. Himadrish Suwan, Chairman, Confederation of Young Leaders; Shri. Sameep Shastri, President, Confederation of Young Leaders & Grandson of Former Prime Minister of India Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri were present among other eminent personalities.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, who delivered the Inaugural remarks via video conference at the event, said that India’s relations with Botswana have been close and friendly. India is committed to good relations with Botswana. “Africa is worlds future,” said Prabhu.

On the other hand, Botswana Acting High Commissioner to India H.E Mr. Herald C. Luke in his keynote address highlighted that his country has always been an important nation in Africa. After long years of struggle, the country has progressed over the years in terms of trade and investment, foreign relations as well as tourism. He mentioned ” India’s relations with Botswana have been close and friendly. India established diplomatic relations with Botswana immediately after its independence in 1966 and opened its diplomatic mission in Gaborone in 1987.”
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Confederation of Young Leaders Himadrish Suwan, in his welcome address announced that the Confederation of Young Leaders will give birth to a forum with the name and the style of “India – Botswana Youth Forum” on the auspicious occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Botswana on 30 September. He stressed on India’s philosophy Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. “We see the whole world as one family and pray for the happiness and good health of all. It’s a great day as well as an auspicious occasion today the people of India and the People of Botswana have joined hands to together organize the 1st India-Botswana Youth Dialogue,” said Suwan
On the other hand, the President of the Confederation of Young Leaders, Sameep Shastri stressed on the need for designing a masterplan paradigm for the promotion and development of Youth and the world citizenry. He further presented the biography of Former Prime Minister of India Shri.Lal Bahadur Shastri to the distinguished panel.
Youth delegates across India participated in the historic dialogue.
