This probably is the first time in India’s legal history that a programme has been stayed before being aired, Sudarshan News Editor-In-Chief Suresh Chavhanke said and added that he was offered Rs 25 crore to take the programme off air.
“For the first time in the history of the world, a show was stopped before airing. Savarkar’s book was also banned before it was published … I do not want to talk about the decision of the High Court, but on those people who tried everything possible to stop the airing of the programme. I will play the audio. They offered us Rs 25 crore …,” he said in his very popular “Bindas Bol” programme on Sudarshan News yesterday.
Moreover, the left-liberals and Islamists brought the stay on Sudarshan News programme on infiltration of Muslims in civil services in a fraudulent manner as they did not bring it to the notice of the High Court the Supreme Court’s refusal to grant a pre-broadcast ban order on the programme.
Going by judicial discipline and precedence, the apex court order prevails over Delhi High Court’s order. Therefore, there are all chances that the matter could be transferred to the Supreme Court for future hearings.
The Supreme Court said prima facie, the petition raises significant issues bearing on the protection of constitutional rights. The bench also said that it will consider appointing amicus curiae to assist it towards achieving a resolution that protects constitutional rights.

The plea seeking ban on the telecast of the programme was filed by advocate Firoz Iqbal Khan in the Supreme Court and in the High Court, the petition was filed by Jamia Millia Islamia students. They had raised objections over the show, saying that show was derogatory to a particular community and had a divisive potential.
The controversy had erupted after Chavhanke had shared a video clip of his upcoming programme scheduled for the 8 pm relay yesterday. The video attracted criticism from various quarters. Especially, the left-liberals and Islamists alleged that Chavhanke was spreading hate against Muslims.
The programme analyses the sudden increase in the number of Muslims selected in various posts in administrative and police services in India, along with an increase in marks obtained by Muslim candidates in compared with others.
In the clip, Chavhanke warned about the consequences if a Muslim magistrate assumes charge in a district and announced that it would be the channel’s big campaign against “Bureaucracy and UPSC Jihad.”
The conclusions reached by Sudarshan News confirmed a survey conducted by Yugaparivartan portal three years ago.
The survey, based on the UPSC exam result in 2017, had concluded that Muslims on average got 13 marks more at the interview stage as compared to other communities. It had also claimed that the bias was at the interview level in favour of Muslims as compared to other communities.

The survey also rang alarm bells over the growing influence of Islamists in Indian bureaucracy. As many as 18 students trained by Zakat Foundation had cleared the UPSC exams last year.
Former IAS officer Shah Faesal is an alumni of this foundation, who called India Rapistan. The foundation is an NGO founded on Islamic principles and carries out activities such as coaching for civil services, especially for Muslims.
Coming back to the video clip, Chavhanke called those passing out of Jamia’s Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) and clearing the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as “Jamia ke Jihadi.”
In response, Jamia Millia Islamia sought action against the news channel and Chavhanke for tarnishing the image of the university by writing a letter to the Union Education Ministry. Jamia Vice Chancellor Najma Akhtar criticised Chavhanke for coining a new secular definition of jihadi.
Responding to the allegations, Chavhanke asked her whether the word jihadi is an abuse and maintained his stand on the increase of Muslims in civil services.
“I don’t know if there are Hindus (in RCA). Those opposing the word jihadi should first answer if they think it is an abuse. I maintain my stand and want to ask how their (Muslim) numbers are increasing in civil services. It’s because of them being given back door favour, option of choosing Islamist studies, Urdu language, etc. If my show is found unconstitutional or doesn’t meet the standard of broadcast authority, then let there be action against me,” he said.
Reacting to Indian Police Foundation criticism, Chavhanke clarified that the programme is not about current IAS and IPS officials, but on the selection process. He also claimed he alleged involvement of radical Islamist Zakir Naik in the alleged conspiracy.
The Indian Police Foundation had tweeted, “A news story targeting candidates in civil services on the basis of religion is being promoted by Sudarshan TV. We condemn the communal and irresponsible piece of journalism.”
The controversy has sparked a debate on social media. Many people exposed the doublespeak and double standards of the left-liberals and Islamists. This is the same jamat who remain silent on stories on alleged Brahmin and upper dominance in judiciary, bureaucracy and other agencies.
They also don’t say a word when stories of segregation of soldiers based on caste are published or programmes aired, but have problems over the exposure of increase of Muslims in civil and police services.
