Today, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad exposed the shameless double standards of the opposition parties as far reforms in the farming sector are concerned.
He said the following:
During UPA rule, these parties did exactly what the Narendra Modi government is doing today for the reforms in the farm sector. Now that they are losing polls, they jump into any protest to protect their existence. They did it during anti-CAA, anti-370 abrogation, Ayodhya, and several other agitations.
These parties oppose policies implemented by the Modi government, which they had supported in the past.
In its 2019 poll manifesto, Congress had promised to repeal APMC Act and make the trade of agricultural produce including export free from all restrictions.
In fact, Rahul Gandhi had asked Congress-ruled chief ministers in 2013 to take steps to allow farmers to sell their produce directly.
Also, Sharad Pawar, who is opposing the Centre’s farm laws, had written to all Chief Ministers of states as Union Agriculture Minister seeking ‘private sector participation’ in market infrastructure.
He had also warned them that the Centre will not provide financial assistance in absence of three reforms.
Mulayam Singh Yadav as a member of the Standing Committee had emphasized the importance of saving farmers from the stranglehold of mandis. The Akali Dal said the same.
During the Congress regime, contract farming was implemented in several Congress-ruled states, including Haryana, Assam, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.
Yogendra Yadav had tweeted in 2017 that the Modi government had washed its hands off ‘mandi’ reforms, but now is opposing the same reforms.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is also opposing the bills, had already implemented the new laws on November 23.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had inaugurated a Pepsico plant in March 2019, but now is adopting shameful double standards to confuse farmers on false corporates facts.
These are the double standards of opposition parties and the BJP vehemently opposes it.
The Modi government will not allow farmers’ land to be leased, sold, or mortgaged.
The government has unveiled the National Agriculture Market portal. There are about 1000 NAMs in the country. As many as 1.68 crore farmers are registered on them and 64 percent of paddy MSP this season was drawn by Punjab.
