Why is Mamata Banerjee wary of West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and National Commission for Scheduled Castes Chairperson’s visit to meet post-poll violence affected people in the state?
Hasn’t her government lied before the Calcutta High Court that there was no post-poll violence in the state? Can anybody deny the videos and pictures depicting post-poll violence?
The only people who are in a denial mode are the Trinamool Congress leaders including chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the liberal mafia.
Nevertheless, Dhankar and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes are trying to create a strong legal case to prove Mamata Banerjee’s failure to maintain rule of law by gathering first-hand information from the victims residing in Mathabhanga, Sitalkuchi, Sitai and Dinhata in Cooch Behar.
At least 16 people have been killed in post-poll violence in West Bengal since May 2. Tomorrow, the Governor will visit Assam where some 400 families from West Bengal had taken refuge due to violence.
NCSC, which will be visiting the violence-hit places, claimed that it has been receiving letters and complaints of atrocities against Dalits in the state, contrary to the state government’s denial in the high court.
However, Mamata Banerjee has been fuming over the visits of high-profile dignitaries, saying it violated constitutional norms.
What constitutional norms, Mamata Di? Haven’t you thrown all constitutional norms to the winds? Haven’t you failed in your duty to protect the lives and liberties of your citizens? Haven’t your goons indulged in political violence?
And, why would you object to Dhankar’s visits to violence-hit places? Shouldn’t you accompany him to be on the side of the affected people? After all, haven’t you got the mandate of the people? If yes, why are you upset if the Governor meets the victims? Aren’t the injured and affected residents of Bengal?
“Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Dante”, the Hindi idiom, perfectly suits you.
And, how dare your government rules out post-poll violence in the high court, when you announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for family members of those who died.
What was the compensation for Mamata Di?
