The left-liberal media is once again playing their role to perfection in Uttar Pradesh, where assembly elections are due next year.
Their divide-and-rule policy is well established. They sometimes create a wedge between North Indians and South Indians, Brahmins and Thakurs, Tamilians and Hindvis, etc. This they do to achieve power by dividing Hindus and getting chunks of Muslims votes in the name of pseudo secularism.
This is the game plan sketched by this brigade in Uttar Pradesh. They are hyping a non-existent issue of “Brahmins are angry over Yogi Adityanath’s government” by making it a “Thakurs versus Brahmins” tug of war.
According to The Print and its clones, Brahmins in Uttar Pradesh are angry with Yogi Adityanath, because they are being ignored in the corridors of power and atrocities against them going unpunished.
Let us address these narratives one by one.
Ignored In Corridors Of Power?
There are eight Brahmins and as many Thakurs in Yogi Adityanath’s 56-member cabinet. And, there are a good number of Brahmins holding important offices in Uttar Pradesh. For instance, there are 152 Brahmin law officers out of the total of 312 officers.
Moreover, they are elated over the 10 per cent EWS job quota and gained symbolic victories in the cultural sphere. Construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya will manifest their domination. They are also getting posts in RSS outfits in villages and tehsils.
And, why would Brahmins vote for those parties in whose DNA is embedded the code to oppose Brahminism? Brahmins identify with the language, symbolism, imagery and issues of Yogi Adityanath’s governance.
In the 2007 assembly election, 42 percent of Brahmins had voted for BJP, even though BSP’s tally of Brahmin voters grew from six percent in the 2002 Assembly election to 17 per cent in the 2007 election.
In 2012 also, 38 per cent Brahmins voted for BJP, but a staggering 82 per cent Brahmins voted for BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha election.
So, where is the question of Brahmins nursing anger against Yogi Adityanath’s government in the corridors of power.
If the Brahmins are angry with Yogi Adityanath, Jitin Prasada, an ex-Brahmin Congress leader, would not have joined BJP and accepted Yogi Adityanath’s leadership.
For sure, Jitin Prasada knows where this narrative is coming from.
It is coming from Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s camp, which wants to create a wedge between Thakurs and Brahmins for electoral benefits. And that’s the reason for the left-liberal media addressing Yogi Adityanath as Ajay Kumar Bhist, a Thakur.
However, this narrative will not stand because Yogi Adityanath is a monk and beyond caste barriers. People of all castes visit Gorakhnath Math to seek his blessings and help.
Atrocities Against Brahmins?
As far as the left-liberal media’s narrative that atrocities against Brahmins are going unpunished, is similar to the propaganda they run when an Islamist terrorist is killed.
They have been portraying the encounter of dreaded criminal Vikas Dubey as one of the main reasons for Brahmins expressing their anger against Yogi Adityanath.
This narrative will not work with Brahmins. Because, unlike the Muslims, they will not play victim card for killers and dreaded criminals.
Moreover, BJP is set to gain from Jitin Prasada’s entry into its fold and consolidate its position among Brahmin voters, who form 12 percent of the total population in Uttar Pradesh. In many assembly seats as well, Brahmins have more than 20 percent of the population.
In the 2007 assembly election, Mayawati had given 86 tickets to Brahmins, which fetched BSP 207 seats.
So, Jitin Prasada’s entry into BJP will further strengthen its position among Brahmins. His entry has nothing to do with striking a balance between Brahmins and Thakurs, because their anger against Yogi Adityanath is the brainchild of Piddi Media.
