Uttarakhand Tourism: Silent Trail- Girls Trip to Jilling Estate !
The temperature in Delhi was soaring and the weekend was arriving. The best I could do to escape the monotony of life was to plan an all-girls trip with my friends. We finally zeroed down to the nearest getaway from Delhi, which is Uttarakhand. Being an all ladies trip, all of us were extremely excited our bags were packed and we were headed to the enchanting place. Uttarakhand is basically located in the northern part of India, which is situated at a distance of 360 km from Delhi. It is surrounded by the Himalayas and also known as the land of Gods. Uttarakhand has many tourist spots due to its location in the Himalayas that attract travelers.
On reaching our destination as the cool breeze brushed past, it immediately put a smile on our face. The weather was perfect and relief for a trip to the mountains. Our destination for the trip was a forest lodge, the sanctuary a Jilling estate in the Himalayas, which is called Silent Trail. Suggested by our family friend the sanctuary was a perfect getaway to refresh our body, soul, and spirit in the calmness of the Himalayas that beckon you to make peace with your chaotic life.
Situated at a height of about 6000 feet in the mountains, the lodge can be reached either by foot or by pony, all the way passing through the terrace farms and oak forests. So in order to reach on time we started a little early that is 6 am in the morning and reached the valley of Padampuri by 2:00 pm in the afternoon. Of course we took a halt in between to fill up our empty stomach. After reaching Padampuri we took a trail for about 2 km to the lodge and once we were there it left us awestruck.
The magnificent colonial-style bungalow, which is converted to a resort, snuggles among deodar trees, on a peaceful wooded hillside. Located in the midst of acres of dense forest, it was a peaceful haven and retreat to our sore eyes. The bungalow has been maintained with care to preserve its beautiful wooden features. It is further extended into a glass-enclosed solar heated swimming pool. Equipped with the kitchen garden, spacious rooms and a library it provided us with all the comfort, which we expected for.
We were served some popular mouth-watering cuisine, prepared using fresh ingredients. The hospitality offered at the lodge was worth it as we were quite comfortable at the home-like environment. Now we were all tired and decided to call it a night after dinner, but the next morning was most delightful as we woke up to the sound of chirping birds and the blowing wind. We further spent our day exploring the property and got so much engulfed in the silence of the surroundings that totally forgot it was time for us to bid adieu to Silent Trail.
The next day with our heavy hearts we left the place but decided to come back next year and relive the moment.
