A telephonic conversation between India Today journalist Tanushree Pandey and brother of Hathras girl has gone viral on social media.
During the whole conversation, the brother seems to be reluctant and hesitant to toe the line of the journalist, who is inciting him to talk against SIT and get a particular statement from his father against the Yogi government.
At some occasions, Sandeep agrees to the allegations of pressure and at other occasions, says his father could not decide whether the Yogi government pressurised his family or not.
At another occasion, Tanushree talks about a non-existent information to peddle a particular political agenda. In the audio clip, she is heard saying that she has heard somewhere that an attempt was being made to blame the girl’s death on the family.
She is also heard asking Sandeep, to make a video of his father, claiming that he had made a statement in favour of the Yogi Adityanath’s administration under pressure.
The father, yesterday, had issued a statement saying he was satisfied with the assurances given by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister after speaking to him over the phone.
The India Today reporter is heard saying, “Sandeep, make a video of your father saying that there was immense pressure on him to issue a statement that I am satisfied. I want a probe because my daughter has died. And, we were not allowed to see her and she was buried (cremated).”
Tanushree also makes a desperate attempt to incite Sandeep against SIT, which has been formed to probe the incident. In response, the brother says that the SIT was posing relevant questions.
Yet another audio clip has emerged wherein the villagers are advising Sandeep not to accept Rs 25 lakhs, but Rs 50 lakh and reach a conclusion.
During this conversation, names of one ‘Rahul’, Manish Sisodia and Barkha Dutt also crops up.
Tanushree has a bad history of doing such things. During anti-CAA protests, she was found “coaching” a JNU student in a hushed voice before taking his interview.
