In stark contrast to the lies spread by Lutyens media, legendary film actress Hema Malini today backed BJP MP Ravi Kishan’s remarks on Bollywood and drugs and asked the central government to uproot the menace.
“Whatever Ravi Kishan has said, has said the right thing that drugs not only affect Bollywood, but also the whole country.
This menace should be eradicated. Our government should pay attention to it, because it is a question of the youth of our country. It is important (to do so),” Hema Malini, who is also BJP MP, said in an interview with Aaj Tak.
She replied thus after she was asked how right it was for Ravi Kishan to target Bollywood and SP MP Jaya Bachchan to defend Bollywood over drugs.
Ravi Kishan, on September 14, had brought to the notice of Rajya Sabha MPs about the rise in drug trafficking and addiction in India.
He had blamed Pakistan and China for smuggling drugs into India to destroy the country’s youth. “Our neighbouring countries are contributing as the smuggling of drugs from Pakistan and China is done every year via Punjab and Nepal,” Ravi Kishan had said.
“Drug addiction is in the film industry too. Several people have been arrested and NCB is doing a very good job. I urge the Centre to take strict action, arrest the culprits soon, give them befitting punishment and bring an end to conspiracy of neighbouring countries,” he had added.
Further commenting on Ravi Kishan’s remarks, Hema Malini said if drug menace is affecting 10-15 percent of the Bollywood, it should be dealt with strictly.
“During our times, we did not take drugs. Is it possible for anyone to take drugs and act? Acting is a tough job. We used to get pages of dialogues to memorise. By taking drugs, can one look fit and beautiful? It is not possible,” she said.
“I do not know what is happening right now in Bollywood because I have been out of it now. However, I know something is happening and therefore there is a spurt in drugs in Bollywood. If there are 10 to 15 percent of Bollywood affected by drugs, then it should be dealt with strictly,” she stated.
On actress Kangana Ranaut’s comments that 99 percent of Bollywood does drugs, Hema Malini said, “Only those people know about drug parties, who attend them. But, I do not go to such parties, therefore I do not know anything about it. So, I don’t want to talk about it.”
