The liberal-secular media has time and again resorted to fake news and half-truths to disrepute Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If the government questions their false journalism, they raise a cry over freedom of press. Meaning, they want the government to give them full license to peddle fake news against it.
In a similar bid to peddle a lie, a few days back, the left-liberal brigade had attacked Modi, claiming that the prime minister was giving false numbers regarding income tax payers in India.
They deliberately misinterpreted Modi by saying that there were around 1 lakh tax payers, not 2200, whose income as above Rs 1 crore is 2200.
Peddling the lie was M K Venu, the Founding Editor of The Wire, who was involved in the infamous Nira Radia case, tweeted: “At Times Now event PM said only 2200 people show taxable income of Rs1 crore plus annually. Fact is 97,689 persons declared income of Rs.1 cr and above in 2018-19 AY. Such gaffes, also seen in past, represent chaotic governance at some deeper level! And this from strongest PMO!”
Alas! What kind of journalism can you expect from Tihari P Chidambaram’s favourite.
Yet another fake news peddler Rohini Singh, who is popularly called 2BHK reporter among New Delhi journalists, tweeted: “According to data released by the Income Tax departI-T,ment, 97,689 people declared income over Rs 1 crore in assessment year 2018-19. Not 2200. Those providing inputs for the PM’s speech shouldn’t make such embarrassing mistakes.” This journalist is much talked about among journalists of getting a 2BHK apartment as gift from SP Leader Akhilesh Yadav during Uttar Pradesh elections.
Actually, these hate-Modi journalists deliberately ignored that Modi had only mentioned about professionals, not overall taxpayers.
The brigade also accused Modi of lying by saying that the prime minister was lying giving a much less figure of 1.5 crores paying income tax after citing a PIB report punlished in October which said the number of returns filed went up from 3.31 crore in 2013-14 to 5.44 crore in 2017-18.
“Therefore, the number of people of who paid tax was 5.44 crore, and not 1.5 crore as Modi said,” they had claimed.
These half-baked editors, who are more innocent than the cub reporters, assumed that number of people who filed income tax return equals the number of people who actually paid income tax. Whose income is above the minimum slab are supposed to pay tax for a year.
To dispel their ignorance, the Income Tax department issued clarifications in a series of tweets. It said, “Out of these,1.03 crore individuals have shown income below Rs 2.5 lakh & 3.29 crore individuals disclosed taxable income between Rs.2.5 lakh to Rs.5 lakh.
Out of 5.78 crore returns filed during this financial year,4.32 crore individuals have disclosed income upto Rs 5 lakh..”
“The Finance Act, 2019 has exempted individual tax payers having income up to Rs 5 lakh. Therefore, these 4.32 crore individual tax payers having income up to Rs 5 lakh shall not be liable to pay tax for the current financial year 2019-20 and subsequent years,” it added.
“Hence, only around 1.46 crore individual tax payers are liable to pay income-tax.
Further, around 1 crore individuals disclosed income between Rs. 5-10 lakh and only 46 lakh individual tax payers have disclosed income above Rs.10 lakh,” the department said.
The department also said that only 3.16 lakh individual tax payers have disclosed income above Rs 50 lakh and number of individual tax payers who have disclosed income above Rs 5 crore in the whole of the country is only around 8,600.
It said only about 2200 Doctors, Chartered Accountants, Lawyers and such other professionals have disclosed annual income of more than Rs 1 crore from their profession (excluding other incomes like rental, interest, capital gains etc) in the ITRs filed by individuals in current financial year.
So, the Income Tax Department had to respond these fake news peddlers’ campaign.
Patriots should be aware the fake news perpetrated by this brigade. The Caravan magazine had peddled fake news of framing Amit Shah behind Judge Loya’s murder, but the Supreme Court had rejected a petition against its verdict that held the judge died of natural causes.
The Caravan, The Hindu, The Wire and Prashant Bhushan and company had spread lies about Rafale deal, which the Supreme Court rejected probe into the deal. These media houses cooked up a story that Modi was making attempts to ink the Rafale deal without the go-ahead given by the Defence Ministry.
In reality, The Hindu published defence ministry document, which did not show the notes of late defence minister Manohar Parrikar’s.
In yet another case, The Wire and its 2BHK “cub” tried to peddle fake news against Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah over an article.
After failing to furnish any evidence to validate the article, The Wire and its scribe filed a plea before The Supreme Court to withdraw their appeal against the Gujarat high court order in a defamation case.
The apex court also had rapped Rohini, expressing the anguish over the substandard journalism being practised in the country. This so-called senior journalist does not even know the difference between turnover and profit of a company.
These are the journalists who are spreading fake news and their portals and newspapers are worth soiled papers hanging on the right side of the toilet rolls. If the rolls are on the left side, I would agree as well!
Leading the Hindi fake news factory is Ravish Kumar, whose brother Brajesh Kumar Pandey was charged under POCSO Act. His brother, who is also is a Congress leader, was accused of running a sex racket. However, Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi saved him from going to jail.
Godi media for you, readers.
