The Lutyens media is already floating a narrative, which is similar to the earlier ones. The impending defeat of the BJP in West Bengal election, has emboldened them to claim that it is a loss of face for Narendra Modi.
Is this convincing at all?
Winning 80-odd seats from mere three seats in West Bengal is a tremendous achievement. Such a jump can only be achieved by no other party than BJP because it has brand Modi and Amit Shah, who are shrewd election strategists.
They are losing in West Bengal because the party lacks powerful kshatrapas like BS Yediyurappa and Himant Biswa Sarma, who can lead the party to cross the winning mark. Modi and Amit Shah’s push is not enough.
In Puducherry, BJP is winning and in Assam, they are returning to power. In Tamil Nadu, its ally AIADMK, is not performing badly, despite facing anti-incumbency.
Despite this, the Lutyens media is discrediting Modi for BJP’s loss in West Bengal.
Just want to ask people, is increasing the tally from a mere 3 seats to 80-odd seats in West Bengal, a loss of face for Modi?
Is winning the Puducherry election for the first time in BJP’s history, a loss of face for Modi? Is BJP returning to power in Assam, a loss of face for Modi? Is AIADMK going down with a good fight in Tamil Nadu, a loss of face for Modi? Is BJP opening an account in Kerala, a loss of face for Modi? If someone says yes, then there is something wrong with the person.
If a leader who has lost face is Rahul Gandhi. The Congress has been wiped out in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. And, his dreams of becoming prime minister have been shattered by Mamata Banerjee’s resounding victory.
This is a sheer loss of face for not only Rahul Gandhi, but Sonia Gandhi, because Mamata Banerjee will emerge as the supreme opposition leader, overpowering Sonia Gandhi.
The pasta journalists should worry more about the Gandhis, and as of now, with the BJP making inroads in West Bengal, it is in a position to add some more seats, if Lok Sabha elections are held today.
