
Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia along with his loyalist MLAs resigned from their primary memberships of the Congress, reducing the Kamal Nath government into a minority.
He submitted his resignation to Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Home Minister Amit Shah.
In a desperate attempt to keep Scindia within the Congress fold, Sonia offered him a ticket to contest Rajya Sabha election from Madhya Pradesh.
Troubles for Scindia erupted after senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh raised the alarm of some of Congress MLAs being taken away by BJP leaders to a Gurugram hotel.
He also had accused former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for taking hostage the legislators supporting the government to topple the government.
In his resignation letter, Scindia wrote, “Having been a primary member of the Congress Party for the last 18 years, it is now time for me to move on.”
He said he is tendering his resignation as “that has been a path that has been drawing itself out over the last year.”
Scindia said he is resigning from the party as he is unable to serve the people of India and wished he looket at the future.
The resignation letter is dated March 9, 2020.
As per sources, as many as 19 MLAS have resigned along with Scindia.
