None of the liberals raised their voice when Facebook allowed users to post condoms over Trishool, portray “Durga” as a prostitute, pee on Shivling, desecrate temples and idols, beat Lord Hanuman with chappals.
They kept mum when the Facebook protected Muslim culprits who had raped a minor Dalit girl in September 2019 by removing the news articles shared on its platform.
Their conscience did not rattle when the liberal media blamed the victim (Naveen) for Bengaluru violence and threw him before the online radical Islamists baying for his blood.
Also, their souls did not stir when Naveen was threatened with “Kamlesh Tiwari-like fate” for his “blasphemous post.”
They neither targeted Facebook for not deleting these hateful posts from its platform, nor levelled allegations of colliding with Indian politics. Because, it suits their anti-Modi narrative and agenda.
The moment they realise some contents benefit BJP in their own clumsy understanding, they pounce on anyone who apparently supports BJP and Modi. The case in point is a report in the Wall Street Journal alleging blocking of action against BJP and Hindutva leaders by Ankhi Das for their alleged hate speeches on Facebook, which the liberals picked up.
They labelled Ankhi Das, Facebook India’s Public Policy Director, as Modi and BJP supporter, and expected her to delete the so-called hate speeches posted by the BJP MLA from the company’s platform, but she did not.
They also attacked her for giving “favourable” treatment to BJP by removing fake news pages created by Pakistan and Congress ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Wow. It is okay if fake news is peddled that benefits them. It is okay if it damages Indian democracy?
The doublespeak of the liberals is quite evident with their divergent stands on hate speeches on Facebook in different circumstances. Clearly, there are no principles at play here. The whole “hate speech” argument of the liberals is nothing but a political doublespeak.
