Twitter, you will get the medicine you need the most pretty soon.
What did you think that you would be let off by this government?
Now face the music.
You have lost the legal shield. From now on, your top executives will face criminal liability under the Indian Penal Code for unlawful and inflammatory content posted by any user.
Who is to be blamed? Yourself, Twitter.
The Narendra Modi government as a friendly gesture gave you extension to comply with the new IT laws, but you did not care a bit. You gave two hoots to the Indian government’s friendly approach to accommodate you.
You have lost the opportunity to submit before the court of law that you were not given time to comply. And certainly, a whack was needed at the back, especially after you failed to tag a communally-surcharged video as manipulated media.
Rightly so and only one could give you the whack was Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. His police have registered an FIR against you, accusing you of enabling criminal conspiracy against the state.
It was clear that the manipulated media was posted to create a religious divide and disturb religious harmony, ahead of elections in Uttar Pradesh.
The Opposition particularly the Samajwadi Party which has a track record of communal tension in the state is looking to come to power through polarisation. They are blaming the Hindus, creating a tension between Hindus and Muslims.
Don’t you have a moral duty to stop this from happening? Why shouldn’t the people of this country drag you to the court for sedition? What rights do you have? Those rights are there for you in the United States, not here. Do business, or else get lost, Twitter.
