Six hours after Republic TV exposed Dr Sudhir Gupta’s flip-flop statements in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, the CBI said all aspects of investigation are being looked into, including homicide.
Dr Gupta, in a telephonic conversation with the channel, had expressed dissatisfaction with Mumbai Police and Cooper Hospital’s reports submitted to the CBI.
He also had said that a conclusive report cannot be arrived at based on insufficient reports handed over to AIIMS by the Mumbai Police and Cooper Hospital.
Dr Gupta told Republic TV, on August 22, that the crime scene was not kept intact and there was contamination of evidence.
He also had revealed, in a Whatsapp chat on August 11 with the channel, that Cooper Hospital’s autopsy team did not comprise forensic experts.
However, a couple of days back, Dr Gupta had leaked unconfirmed reports to select media, ruling out murder angle in Sushant case, which surprised SSRians and the late actor’s family.
They questioned how Dr Gupta could arrive at a conclusive report based on insufficient reports provided to AIIMS.
Towards evening, AIIMS also broke its silence and disowned Dr Gupta’s claim and said the inputs on the report must be obtained from CBI.
“The medical board has submitted the report directly to the CBI as required. Being a legal matter, any inputs on the report submitted by the medical board would have to be obtained from CBI,” AIIMS said.
Meanwhile, Sushant’s family is planning to seek a fresh medical panel, citing the Mumbai Police’s shortcomings, from the CBI Director.
Vikas Singh, the family’s lawyer, had claimed an AIIMS doctor telling him that Sushant’s was 200 per cent murder after looking at the late actor’s photos post his death.
The CBI has questioned people close to Sushant including Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Siddharth Pithani, cook Neeraj and Samuel Miranda.
It has not looked into Disha Salian’s mysterious death case, despite numerous people including BJP MLA Nitesh Rane linking it to Sushant’s case.
Rane also has sought protection from Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Disha’s fiance Rohan Rai, who is a prime witness and could uncover the mystery behind her death.
Three months since Suhant’s death, Mumbai police questioned 56 people till date including several Bollywood celebrities.
The Bihar police had lodged an FIR against Rhea and five others booking them for abetment to suicide, cheating, and conspiracy.
The case was transferred to the CBI after the Supreme Court allowed it to take over.
ED has booked Rhea and her family for alleged money laundering to the tune of Rs 15 crores, based on Sushant’s family’s complaints, but has not confirmed any irregularities.
