Amid the dissatisfaction of the family of deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput with “tardy” pace of its enquiry, AIIMS has submitted its conclusive findings.
The report was based on Mumbai police’s analysis on post-mortem reports and autopsy, besides photographic evidence.
The CBI will now analyse the AIIMS report to ascertain whether Sushant’s case was a murder or a suicide.
The central agency had collected their evidence like recreation of crime scenes, statements of witnesses and profiling of accused and suspects. After collecting forensic evidence from the scene, it roped in AIIMS forensic panel which had examined Mumbai police’s autopsy report of Sushant.
Earlier in the day, the CBI had stated that it was conducting a professional probe and was looking at all aspects of the case.
On September 25, Sushant’s family lawyer Vikas Singh had expressed the family’s dissatisfaction over the slow pace of the CBI investigation.
He raised concerns over CBI straying away from Sushant’s death case and focussing more on Bollywood drug nexus, saying that it may not stand the scrutiny in court without seizure of drugs in the accused possession.
The CBI has interrogated witnesses like Sushant’s flatmate Siddarth Pithani, Sandeep Singh, ex-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, his building guard and cook.
Last week, Dr Sudhir Gupta of AIIMS had not ruled out murder of the actor.
The Bihar police had lodged an FIR against Rhea and five others or abetment to suicide, cheating and conspiracy. Thereafter, the Bihar government referred the case to CBI.
A legal battle ensued in the Supreme Court over handing over the case to CBI by Bihar government. The apex court, however, transferred the case to the central agency.
Moreover, the Enforcement Directorate has booked Rhea and her family for alleged money laundering to the tune of Rs 15 crores, based on Sushant’s family’s complaints, but has not confirmed any irregularities.
