On May 22, the left-liberal cabal headed by Yogendra Yadav called for a seven-point plan of action of action to combat the situation arising out of coronavirus outbreak.
However, one particular point in their proposal had attracted widespread criticism.
Point number 7.1 urged the government to take over all cash, real estate, property, bonds belonging to private citizens and treat them as national resources to be used in the war against coronavirus.
This proposal not only had few takers, but also disturbed some people in the left-liberal eco-system. One of the intellectuals, Ramchandra Guha, distanced himself from the action plan.
Guha alleged that the final print of the clause was vastly different from that was presented to him during the discussion.
Liberal’s favorite Ashutosh Varshney almost flip-flopped after endorsing the draconian clause.
Some others dismissed the clause as an act of nationalisation and expropriation of private property, or in simpler terms, an act of communism.
After receiving a huge backlash in social media, the group revised the controversial clause. Now it reads: “The government must explore emergency ways of raising resources going beyond the usual set of taxes and levies to cope with the problem of funding large relief packages.”
While making these changes too, Yogendra Yadav peddled yet another lie. He argued that nationalisation and expropriation of private property was not the group’s intention. This argument is hardly convincing because they are not poor at framing of sentences in English.
Though the controversial clause has been amended, 2.2 clause has been retained, which still advocates expropriation of private hospitals and institutions for free Coronavirus treatment and quarantine.
They also suggested free testing and treatment facilities for migrant laborers, which has already been taken care by the central government. The Coronavirus treatment is free in government hospitals and health units. It is also free for the poor in private hospitals under Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Among the other suggestions made by the intellectuals are – Bringing back migrant laborers withing 10 days without charges. This also has already been done by the Railways ministry, which ran thousands of Shramik trains till date, free of cost.
They also suggested moratorium on loan interest payment, which also has been already implemented. The RBI has announced six months moratorium until August 31.
Therefore, most of the suggestions made by this brigade are irrelevant. It would be better for them to give sound and refreshing suggestions, so that they contribute towards nation building, otherwise they are too good in giving bhashans and lectures.
We should not encourage such pseudo leftist ,intellectuals .They should be boycotted and their properties should be confisticated first to see how they react .
