Farmers’ leader Rakesh Tikait today alleged that the BJP workers tried to capture the protest site and threatened them of severe consequences if they tried to come anywhere near to the stage.
He said, “Having a stage on the road does not mean that anyone can come on the stage. If somebody tries to capture it, his buckles will be blown up … Here, bombs and sticks have been stored. Action will be taken against any BJP worker who tries to come anywhere near to the stage.”
These are the allegations levelled against BJP workers. However, the truth is something else.
Some video clips have emerged on social media that have gone viral. They depict BJP workers arriving at Tikait’s protesting site to welcome the newly-appointed State Minister Amit Valmiki. And at the same time, the so-called protesting farmers are seen rushing towards the minister’s convoy with rods, sticks and swords in their hands and damaging the vehicles.
After the incident, Tikait gave the bite to a television channel threatening BJP workers. But, the question is, does he have guts to pull down the pants of BJP workers? Time alone will tell.
But, the bigger question then is why Tikait has stooped to a low level of politics, the politics of giving empty threats? Is it to grab incendiary headlines so that he gets a ticket from any non-BJP party to fight Uttar Pradesh government?
In fact, he made serious efforts in this direction in the runup to Bihar and West Bengal elections in the past, but to no avail. No opposition parties took him seriously, because his rallies received an extremely tepid response with only a handful of people attending them.
In addition, his woes do not seem to ebb. The months-long protest against the new farms lwas in Delhi is fast dying its natural death. Even the friendly media are not covering the protest with vigour. Therefore, Tikait is getting desperate to hog the limelight ahead of Uttar Pradesh elections.
The best way to hog headlines is to provoke Narendra Modi and Yogi Adiyanath governments to take action, so that the friendly media makes him a hero by writing columns in international garbage media.
So, testing times are ahead for Modi and Yogi. Whether they take action against Tikait or ignore him and his protest which is dying a natural death.
Jai Hind.
