The Wd-Matiala has both rural n urban voters. It consists of posh area like Dwarka n unauthorised colonies.
According to sources the Matiala byelection witnessed almost 33% of voting. The voters came out heavily in colonies n villages on some polling stations while almost only 21% votes were polled in eight sectors of Dwarka i.e 3,4,5,6,10,19,22&23 .
This is the lowest turnout of Dwarka.Their is enthusiasm in AAP’s camp due to low turnout in Dwarka bcoz despite AAP wave across Delhi in 2014-Assembly elections Dwarkites had voted in favor BJP.As Dwarka is bastion of BJP.The voters have disappointed BJP in Dwarka.
Similarly Congress is also disappointed by low voter turnout in Dwarka bcoz it fielded Gen Secy, Federation of CGHS Ms Sudha Sinha as its candidate.Congress had presumed that voters may support Sudha Sinha. The Federation had campaigned for 100% voting in Dwarka but it seems Dwarkites were not interested in elections.
Even after low voter turnout if BJP manages to garner support as in 2014-assembly elections n congress manages to bring back its traditional purvanchali, muslim n SC voters then it may create problem for AAP.But it seems both BJP N CONG is not placed comfortably to win the seat.
According to AAP supporters due to low voting in Dwarka it seems win-win situation for AAP in Matiala byelections.
After 31% voting BJP supporter Chandrashekhar Rai said “the voters feel cheated by AAP govt in colonies n villages so the disillusioned voters didnt turn up in support of socalled “vyavastha parivartan”activists in Matiala.Despite infighting in BJP the voters have supported Ashok Sharma so CS Rai is confident about victory of BJP in Matiala byelections.
The result will be declared on 17th, but now the political future of Dwarkites lies in hands of adjoining colonies n villages.
