In the biggest expose of the decade, Republic TV has nailed the lies of Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh over TRP scam by putting in the public domain the BARC email, denying any malpractice or illegality found against the channel.
The email of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) comprehensively exposes the fake campaign against Republic TV carried out by Param Bir Singh.
“If there was any disciplinary action initiated against ARG Outlier Media Private Ltd, then BARC India would have communicated the same to you along with necessary documents for your response,” BARC said in an email response to Republic Media Network’s CEO Vikas Khanchandani on October 17.
The email proves beyond doubt that the BARC did not level any charges as Param Bir Singh did against the channel in a press conference.
The Supreme Court had indirectly raised concerns over Param Bir Singh giving interviews to the media on ongoing cases. The channel had moved the apex court amid a malicious and vindictive attempt by him to target the channel in the name of the alleged TRP scam.
The Mumbai Police Commissioner had named Republic TV along with two Marathi news channels, though the FIR copy did not mention Arnab Goswami’s channel.
The FIR, instead, had mentioned India Today.
Shortly after the nerve-rattling exposure, netizens expressed their shock over the abuse of power for personal agenda and record-setting.
However, the Lutyens media is shamelessly silent on the issue.
Throwing a challenge at India TV’s Editor in Chief Rajat Sharma, Arnab asked him to face his questions in an unedited live interview on his show.
“I want to do one-to-one with Rajat Sharma. Rajat Sharma, call me on your channel. I want you to face me. If he asks one question, I will ask two. If he asks two, I will ask four. If he asks four, I will ask 15. You are a senior journalist and it is our culture to respect elders. But if someone lies about us, we know how to unearth the truth. I want to tell this to your viewers,” Goswami said.
Rajat Sharma had interviewed Param Bir Singh over the alleged TRP scam.
The Silence Of The Lambs
The pin-drop silence of the Lutyens media including the Press Council of India and Editors Guild of India is disgusting and shameful.
It is their paramount duty to protect an individual belonging to their own fraternity when the freedom of the press is at stake.
They haven’t come forward and the reason is not far-fetched.
In 2016, when Arnab had quit Times Now, many reasons were floated around, claiming that he had a problem with the Jains for his right-leaning conduct of debates. But that isn’t the truth.
The Jains did not tolerate Arnab, who had demanded filmmaker Karan Johar and some of his darlings in a movie, to exit India if they do not condemn the killing of Indian Jawans martyred in Uri terror attack.
This was the end of the chapter for Arnab in Times Now because to antagonise Bollywood meant Times of India Group losing an estimate of anywhere between Rs 500-800 crore per year.
The Group allegedly runs paid promotions of stars and movies, which adds up to a huge business for them. It is not the only media house which does this, but there are other media houses too.
They must have thrown a party the night when Arnab had announced his resignation, but bad luck may have it, he returned with his own channel with more vigour, to the dismay of the Lutyens media.
What he did in Times Now, he is continuing to do it in his own channel. The issues that he has picked up, from Palghar Lynching to Hathras to Sushant Singh Rajput death case, have shattered their left-liberal narratives and almost killed Bollywood, a duck laying golden eggs.
And, this is what is bothering them and they are out to block Arnab in whichever way possible. Fabricated TRP scam against Arnab is on top of the tree.
