A farmer goes to a mandi and sells his produce. He does not have any other option. He cannot sell it to anybody he wishes to. Because, that is the system, a system of middlemen, who decide the prices of their crops.
Now, that blood-sucking system has been completely demolished by the passing of Agricultural Reforms Bill.
This bill aims to liberate farmers from many restrictions. They will get many options to sell their produce and protect them from middlemen, who took a large share of their earnings.
However, there are some, who are spreading lies that the benefit of MSP will not be given to farmers by Narendra Modi government.
They are also running the propaganda that the government will not provide fair prices to farmers through MSP because there will not be mandis to procure crops from them.
Now, who are the people who are opposing the bill? They are those who ran the agricultural mafia through middlemen who decided the prices of produce.
Who ran this mafia? The answer lies in the resignation of SAD’s MP and Agriculture Minister Harsimran Kaur Badal and frustration of the Congress and other regional parties. They controlled the mandis through their party workers. Through this, they earned crores by paying pittance to the farmers.
These are the same parties who ruled the country and states for decades without making any sincere efforts to eradicate the mandi system, though they romped to power by giving them false promises through their
election manifestoes.
They are beating the knack of protecting the farmers, but actually they want to keep the farmers in many bonds.
They are supporting the middlemen and looters of the farmers’ earnings.
These very parties are now opposing the historical reforms.
Crushing the opposition’s propaganda, Modi said the government is committed to provide fair prices to farmers through MSP and continue procurement as before.
He said with the new provisions coming into force, farmers can harvest their crop and sell at their desired price in any markets of the country.
He said realising the harm done by the APMC Act, Bihar Chief Minister Nitesh Kumar removed this law.
Modi said the government is constantly working to increase the income of farmers.
A nationwide campaign is also being carried out to protect the livestock from diseases.
In a clear message to the farmers of the country, he urged them to be vigilant of those who are misleading them.
