The world’s geo political order is fast changing in an interesting way. While the left liberal propaganda machinery in India tries to constantly play on the so called Muslim sentiment in order to defame the government and create social unrest in the country via ‘divide and rule’, the Islamic countries not just stand on very good terms with the Indian government but ironically enough, also pay no heed to Pakistan’s anti India agenda.
Turkey is the only country that entertains Pakistan vis a vis it’s consistent anti India rhetoric, especially its criticism of India on the Jammu and Kashmir issue. And now, in what could be termed as a fresh blow to both Turkey and Pakistan, the Arab countries have called for 100 percent boycott of Turkey with Saudi Arabia leading the call.
Saudi Arabia asked its citizens to boycott Turkey after the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Arab countries of destabilising the region.
Saudi Arabia’s Chamber of Commerce head Ajlan Al Ajlan wrote in a tweet, “The boycott of everything Turkish, whether on the level of import, investment or tourism, is the responsibility of every Saudi — trader and consumer — in response to the continued hostility of the Turkish government against our leadership, our country and our citizens.”
Turkey’s accusations against the Arab countries come in the wake of recent decisions taken by the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to normalise ties with Israel.
Addressing Turkey’s General Assembly, Erdogan had said, “It should not be forgotten that the countries in question did not exist yesterday, and probably will not exist tomorrow; however, we will continue to keep our flag flying in this region forever, with the permission of Allah.”
So , it was specifically in a reaction to these comments that Saudi Arabia’s head of Chamber of Commerce openly called for a boycott of ‘everything ‘Turkish’ including ‘imports, investment and tourism’, stating that it is the ‘responsibility of every Saudi’ to boycott Turkey.
If the directive is followed, it would have a massive impact on the business of thousands of Turkish exporters. And this won’t be good news for the Turkish economy which is already in a pretty bad shape.
The Arab world’s call for boycott of Turkey is not good news for Pakistan as well. Almost all Islamic nations with the exception of Turkey and Malaysia refuse to entertain Pakistan on issues like Jammu and Kashmir. So if Turkey gets further sidelined by the Arab world, it would get almost impossible for Pakistan to try and reach out to the Arab countries with its India bashing rhetoric.
