As I was browsing the Twitter content, I came to cross a tweet reading “Joe Biden, Kamala Harris named Person of the Year by the Time magazine.” They have been named the Person of the Year for defeating President Donald Trump, who according to Time magazine is a divisive force.
A divisive force? God bless the Time magazine!
Trump could be a natural choice for this year’s person, for the simple reason that he had played a stellar role in being a great unifier rather than a dividing force.
Just look at his diplomatic achievements. He brokered a major peace deal in the Middle East. He eliminated the dreaded ISIS caliphate and killed its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
He also eradicated the world’s number one terrorist Qasem Soleimani and was the only US President, who kept America out of wars and pledged to bring home troops holed up in Afghanistan.
The President could be a natural choice for this year for other reasons too. His administration helped America gain a strong economy. He withdrew from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, approved the Keystone XL and Dakota Access oil pipelines, ended the Paris Climate Accord, and helped the USA become energy independent.
He also passed record-setting cuts to taxes and regulation, took toughest, boldest, strongest, and hardest hitting action against China and replaced President Bill Clinton’s North American Free Trade Agreement with the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement.
His administration produced the best unemployment numbers for African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Asian-Americans ever recorded, prior to the devastation caused by the Chinese Communist Party virus, known as the novel coronavirus.
His immigration policy helped secure American borders and deport 20,000 gang members and 500,000 criminal aliens.
Trump also signed orders aiming to lower the cost of prescription drugs for U.S. citizens and passed the “Right to Try” legislation to allow critically ill patients to try out the experimental treatment. He passed the V.A. Choice and V.A. Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act.
He passed bills on prison reform, opportunity zones, and long-term funding of historically black colleges and universities, to help bring prosperity to the forgotten inner American cities,
The President acknowledged the devastation caused by the global CCP virus pandemic, but at the same time has taken measures to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.
Those steps include the ramping up of ventilator production, shipping of personal protective equipment to frontline healthcare workers, mobilization of supplies and personnel to nursing homes and long-term care facilities, development of an advanced testing system, development of various treatments, including convalescent plasma, among others.
He also launched the Paycheck Protection Program that supported more than 50 million American jobs amid the pandemic that has wreaked havoc on the global economy and a record-setting American economy.
Moreover, Trump could achieve all this amidst all kinds of horror stories written about him by the western media for the last four years. As much as 62 percent of the stories were negative and only 5 percent positive.
By comparison, coverage of President Barack Obama during the same time period was 42 percent positive and 20 percent negative. For President George W Bush, the number was 22 percent positive and 28 percent negative. And for President Bill Clinton, it was 27 percent positive and 28 percent negative.
Despite the media trail, Trump achieved many things that no other presidents of the United States achieved.
In the second term, if the Congress elects him as the President in January, he plans to make America a Manufacturing Superpower of the World and wants to expand Opportunity Zones, bring home medical supply chains, and end America’s reliance on China once and for all.
Trump plans to continue to reduce taxes and regulations at levels not seen before and create 10 million jobs in the next 10 months.
In fact, there is a long list of his future plans which he had unravelled in his re-nomination acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in August.
So, Trump’s accomplishments undoubtedly are big and the Time magazine could have named him as the Person of the Year this year, as he had played a stellar role of being a unifier, bringing world peace and prosperity to all races in America, which was quite reflected in the election results.
But, on what basis did the Time magazine named Joe Biden and Kamala Harris? Why did the magazine hurriedly named them? What was the pressure? The magazine could have waited for at least a year, assessed their work, and named them.
Defeating political opponents in elections is not the best of the criteria for naming politicians as Person of the Year. That way, Narendra Modi is still the best candidate for donning the Person of the Year, for he not only had trounced his political opponents but also the fake news factory, which had targeted him on every damn issue one can imagine.
And how about Xi Jinping? He is the eternal winner. The criteria for naming the Person of Year is just a mockery of sorts. It’s the agenda of the Left.
